Accessibility consultant SightlessKombat explains.
The Soulsborne games are notoriously difficult.
That’s in part by design, through challenging gameplay.
But for some players, the lack of accessibility features is an impenetrable wall around such a beloved series.
Yet it doesn’t have to be this way.
“I think an accessible Souls game is entirely possible.”
Along with narrated menus and UI, I think an accessible Souls game is entirely possible.
So, what might an accessible Souls game look like?
But broadly speaking, some key accessibility features could be implemented to assist with each.
For combat, it’s all about audio cues.
Speaking of dodging, haptic feedback could be one way to depict which direction players should be rolling.
Lastly there’s menu navigation, which narration would solve.
So why is it that we’re yet to see features such as these implemented in Souls games?
We just need developers to be willing and able to make that happen.
