Tencent, the parent company of Riot Games, has been blacklisted by the American government.
However, the company is now facing serious problems over its alleged ties with the Chinese military.
A Tencent spokesperson shared the following statement with GameSpot.
“Tencent’s inclusion on this list is clearly a mistake.
We are not a military company or supplier.
Unlike sanctions or export controls, this listing has no impact on our business.
We will nonetheless work with the Department of Defense to address any misunderstanding.
Tencent recentlyattracted the US government’s attentionover two members it named to Epic’s board of directors.
Thus far, Ubisoft and Tencent have not reached a deal about the future of the publisher.
