There’s a great sandbox game here - but technical issues come to the fore.
Have the developers had enough time to produce a polished release?
Before we get into the issues - and there are issues - let’s cover the positives.
Despite these highlights, too often technical issues detract from the experience.
Aside from the bugs, some rendering techniques do look a tad dated.
This mode turns down geometry LOD options, reduces foliage draw and removes RTAO.
Drops to 50fps are still possible, but this 1440p high FPS can work beautifully with a VRR display.
Despite this, frame-rates are all over the shop, even dropping below 30fps in an early cutscene.
I’ve seen interior areas strike a full 60fps, but it’s a rare sight.
A 30fps cap would go a long way for those 1440p and 4K options, for a start.
It hands responsibility to the end user, and no option is really 100 percent ideal.
Perhaps then, Volition ought to fine-tune Saints Row on console to offer up definitive 30fps and 60fps modes.
As for Series S?
