I was a little worried Norco wouldn’t be very much fun.
Serious is fine, of course.
But beyond Norco’s initial, slightly po-faced outer layer is something odd and adventurous.
A playful spirit bouncing off its sharply political straight-edge.
Norco review
Still, it takes some time to draw that out.
The premise here is a world of industrial, environmental, and societal decay.
At times, Norco is a little overwritten.
And Norco also hits with far more of its metaphorical flourishes than it misses.
Playing through it is completely and totally engrossing.
But it’s also utterly earned.
It’s striking, surprising, novel.
It’s nothing less than extraordinarily beautiful.
