At least DirectStorage impresses on its debut.

However, there are also some serious issues unique to the PC release that need to be addressed.

On first boot though, Forspoken on PC provides a positive first impression.

But while its great that these options are there, these PC niceties fall down in their execution.

Lets start with image quality options.

Even the games TAA at native resolution has issues, with ghosting exhibited on particles, much like FSR.

For now, I recommend not using this feature.

This brings us to Forspokens two ray tracing options, shadows and ambient occlusion (RTAO).

To be honest, these are the most lacklustre RT options in a AAA title to date.

At least theres no shader compilation stutter, which is a relief.

So DirectStorage helps, but CPU speed is also a factor.

However, there does appear to be a bug related to its streaming.

On 8GB GPUs, on any settings tested, textures never load in properly. On a 10GB GPU, this is resolved.

The game is remarkably unplayable on GPUs with 8GB or less of VRAM.

This makes it impossible to recommend the game on PC unless you have more than 8GB of VRAM.
