Continue with the story in the Grasslands during Chapter 2 to mark its location on your map.

It’s just below the Mogstool, and close to the photo opportunity location.
Any other Gongaga Remnawave Tower might do this for you, however.
You have to continue the story in Chapter 11 to unlock the Nibelheim Protorelic’s location on your map.
It’s located between Costa Del Sol and Junon as you’re moving north.
Only then will you be able to start the final Protorelic quest.
This is a huge undertaking, so verify you’re prepared for the battles ahead.
